Advocacy
Nerenberg has framed the issue of elder abuse for policy makers, professionals,
and community groups in concise reports and testimony, including:
- Authored Summit Preparation Materials: Background Information and Discussion
Issues for the “First National Policy Summit on Elder Abuse,” sponsored
by the U.S. Departments of Justice and Health and Human Services
- Testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and
Transportation at its “Fraud: Targeting America's Seniors” hearing
- Testified before the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging at the "Elder
Fraud and Abuse: New Challenges in the Digital Economy" hearing
- Facilitated the National Hispanic Council on Aging’s Summit on
Elder Abuse in the Hispanic Community
- Organized and staffed San Francisco’s Conservatorship Work Group,
which explored ways to improve access to the Superior Court by abused
and vulnerable elders.
- Participated in or presented at numerous national
forums, including the Elder Abuse and Neglect Roundtable, sponsored by
the U.S. Department of Justice; and the Our Aging Population symposium,
which was sponsored by the U.S Departments of Justice and Health and
Human Services.
